Thomas Nielsen, with his friend Scott Veirs,  raced in last year’s inaugural Race to Alaska, aka R2AK.   They built their own Wharram 17 Catamaran. At about the 100 mile mark they had to drop out.  This year Scott is in the Galapagos so Thomas is going solo in a SeaScape 18.
