(Sold at auction for $14,200) This shapely little “virgin aluminum” sweetheart really catches our fancy. Not your usual classic by any means, but a classic none-the-less. Picture her at the dock of your lakeside camp or buzzing along the lazy river of your dreams--or any water where the wind is light and the far shore beckons.

Description from Boat's Main Listing

This 1957 Feather Craft Rocket is a 12′ 6″ riveted aluminum runabout powered by a 55ci Kiekhaefer Mercury Thunderbolt IV inline-four outboard. The boat is equipped with Quicksilver controls, an electric starter, a safety glass windscreen, and reupholstered seats with Feather Craft logos. A custom steel trailer with fenders made from Mercury Marine engine covers and equipped with LED taillights is included in the sale. This Feather Craft was last in the water in 2018 according to the selling dealer, and is offered at no reserve in Oregon with Washington titles for both boat and trailer.

The aluminum hull features riveted construction and measures 12’6″ long with a maximum width of 58″ at the gunwale. The boat features a barrelback-style transom and a hammered finish over the bow. The windscreen has been replaced with safety glass in a lower-cut design than the original. Scratches and marks are visible in the aluminum skin.

The custom-made trailer features C-channel steel construction with a faux wood finish, LED lights, 13″ Carlisle tires, and fenders which were reportedly made from Mercury Marine outboard side panels. The boat and trailer are said to weigh approximately 1,000 pounds combined.

Both rows of seats have been reupholstered in red vinyl, with embroidered Feather Craft logos up front. The boat is equipped with an aluminum Quicksilver steering wheel and traditional hand controls for the throttle and drive selectors. The selling dealer points out damage in the forward portion of the plywood floor.

The Kiekhaefer Mercury Thunderbolt IV Mark 55E displaces 55ci and was factory-rated at 40 horsepower. The outboard is equipped with a reversible two-bladed bronze prop and an electric starter. Fuel is fed from a single steel tank mounted between the rear bench and transom, with the system pressurized using a rubber bulb.
