Off Center Harbor's Remarks

When Harry Bryan designed and built the first Handy Billy, he launched a quiet revolution. Suddenly bigger-faster-louder was replaced by smaller-slower-quieter. It was almost un-American. But Harry didn’t care because not only does he live in Canada, what he wants in the boats he builds is fuel economy. He knew that to get people to buy into this concept he would have to built a sweet running boat that looked beautiful and was seaworthy enough to handle the rough waters of Buzzards Bay where he grew up. The Handy Billy was what he came up with.

Description from Boat's Main Listing

The Handy Billy’s are known for their gentle loping ride and great efficiency. The design can handle the steepest chops thanks to a fine entry and generous deadrise. Her high sheer makes her dry underway and she economically cruises with a quiet running 30 hp Honda 4-stroke outboard as the principle power source. ROSEMARY is also equipped with an electric trolling motor for super quiet, low speed maneuverability that is perfect for bird watching or a silent cocktail cruise.

The hull of the Handy Billy is built using a process called batten seam construction. Batten seam construction provides excellent strength to weight ratios and minimal maintenance when compared to traditional carvel type planking. Because of this construction type the boat requires almost no soak time in the spring to swell the planks and has very low maintenance requirements.

Built by her designer (Harry Bryant) ROSEMARY is in very good condition and should be given serious consideration by those looking for a classic launch with an eye towards relaxing near-shore cruises, day trips, island picnics, silent bird and seal watching excursions, just to name a few possibilities.
