Off Center Harbor's Remarks

Legendary Brooklin boatbuilder and designer Joel White used to say that the Ostkust sloop that took up local residence for a few years was the prettiest boat in Brooklin’s Center Harbor. And with her tall mast and ample sail plan, she was a pretty slick sailer as well. To seal the deal as to SPARTINA's overall appeal, her builder Joel Johnson was one of the best around, turning out many Ostkusts from his Bridgeport, CT, shop from the 1940s to the '70s.
