Off Center Harbor's Remarks

We are certainly partial to William Hand's designs and this 27-footer really caught our eye. According to the writeup in the listing she seems to have undergone a significant rebuilding that led to a streak of “Best-in-Show” awards. From the pictures it looks like she is due for some refurbishing, but if the bones are good, this should be well worth the effort, and the work could very well put you at the controls of a perky little cruiser that redefines what a weekend afloat is all about.

Description from Boat's Main Listing

Built about 1925 to a William Hand design. “GADFLY” is a classic design of the twenties by this noted designer. Built of wood, she has a modified v-bottom with skeg, and is of plank-on-frame construction. The yacht was restored about 1998 and over the last ten years has been maintained by a leading New England shipyard and knowledgeable shipwright.

She has reportedly earned the following acclaims:
1989 Mystic Seaport Antique & Classic Rendezvous – “Best Restoration by Owner”
1990 Merrimac River parade of boats – “Best Vintage Yacht”
1992 Boston Antique & Classic Boat Show – “Best Powerboat”
1999 1000 Island Chapter Antique & Classic Boat Society – “Best Presentation”
1999 Hudson Valley Chapter Antique & Classic Boat Society – “Skippers Choice”
