Off Center Harbor's Remarks
There’s little question that authentic Friendship sloops still have their charms a century after their heyday as down-the-bay fishing boats, and VOYAGER II certainly has an authentic pedigree from her hull construction by the famous Lash Brothers of Friendship, Maine, (hence the name) all the way to her Graymarine gas engine. A classic for sure, and if her condition is as good as the listing maintains, her price at $11,000 is classic as well.
Description from Boat's Main Listing
Voyager II is a Lash Brothers Friendship Sloop built in Friendship, Maine. She was launched as a bare hull on November 20, 1965 with a Christmas tree mast and towed to Scituate, Massachusetts, for her owner, Bernie Mackenzie, a founding member of the Friendship Sloop Society. It took him 7 years to finish her, and she sailed her first race in Friendship Maine in 1972. In 2002 she was purchased by a friend of the original owner, who had sailed with the owner many years. In 2014 he installed an updated engine. She is a well-maintained classic sloop with beautiful finish work and lines. These sloops are not only fun but sturdy in all weather and an experience of ease on the water. If you are in the market for a classic sloop with accommodations for cruising, day sailing, and family fun, Voyager may fit your needs!
