About everyone’s favorite boat around here is VELA, fifty feet of original traditionality. We saw her being built, then cared for over the years, and she remains in first-class condition. She has had many careers of sailing in the hands of Capt. Havilah Hawkins, an outstanding seaman in his own right as well as being co-builder and an OCH Guide. Watching him handle VELA, either under sail or power, remains a favorite sight for all of us. Look her over carefully and think deeply about all the uses you might put her to. If something comes to mind, and you end up making the call for further information, you won’t be disappointed (even if you decide not to buy her).
