John Swansey says:
These boat don’t get a lot of love from traditionalists. But I have the 8′ version with sail kit, and I think it is about perfect for a car-toppable singlehand rowing and sailing boat. Weighs about 76 lbs, also tows great as a yacht tender. The bendiness and translucency of the hull takes some getting used to – it helps to consider that it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. I can toss it on the roof, drive somewhere close and be rowing or sailing in about 10 minutes. It rows nearly as well backwards as forwards. I found the best way to row with two aboard is not with the passenger on the stern seat. I seat in the stern seat and row facing forward. The passenger in the bow keeps the boat on its lines and moving smoothly though the water.
