Very nice video,but I was hoping that the process of sharpening the blade would have been covered as well. Also it would have been nice to show planing techniques using a standard block and smoothing plane.

Hi Paul. Check further in the shop videos, because Harry has a 3 part series on sharpening. You can also use the search feature at the top of each page and search for “sharpening”.

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been fighting with a junky plane all this time and honestly thought it was me doing something wrong. Now I see why all the jams, gunked up throat, and sudden maladjustments (when I had just finished carefully setting everything up) are plaguing me. Saving up for a nice plane and scouring antique stores now.
