Preview: Iceland and Lofoten; A Trip of a Lifetime. A Blog by Geoff Kerr of Two Daughters Boatworks

I realize OCH is a boating themed site, but bear with me…there are boats to come. Suffice it to say that last March’s ski trip to Norway’s Lofoten Islands afforded some serious questing for Viking roots, particularly since the cheap Icelandair tickets allowed a weekend stopover in Rekyjavik. I highly recommend a trip to Iceland. Flights are cheap, prices are US big-city equivalent, everyone is happy to speak English, and the scenery is Middle Earthian. Our 6-hour, one-tank, “Sunday drive” in a rental car netted glaciers, geysers, volcanoes, waterfalls, ponies, sheep, geothermal plants and a will to return with time to trek and paddle!
