Steaming a frame for the wooden lobster boat BONNY BRIDE

I spent the last several weeks preparing things for a single day of team frame bending. There are several reasons why. Obviously, even an ambitious 55-year-old shipwright is not going to be able to bend in a ten foot long 1×4 piece of oak by himself no matter how many donuts he’s eaten; besides, it’s just plain fun to get togethe a group of friends and family to see how much can be accomplished in a day. This also fits my “git ‘er done” approach to the BONNY BRIDE rebuild.

Nothing like that Work Party showing up. The end of the day gives so much to appreciate. The great friends and the results of folks working together. She looks sweet, Walt!

You have just described what many Americans will never experience. The joy of working with friends to accomplish a difficult task for no other reward than the satisfaction of a job well done. As a Rotarian I have spent many a Saturday helping on projects that brought a diversity of talent together. It beats the heck out of sitting home watching a ball game.
