Take a few pulleys and V-belts, some shafts and bearings; add a right-angle drive and an old washing machine motor or electric drill; mix in some plywood scraps and a big dose of ingenuity and the result may surprise you. “Just give it a go,” as our Tasmanian boatbuilder friend, David Golding, advises after he designed and built this pair of spinning mechanisms that manufacture and spool up cotton caulking.
