Hi James – I can’t give anything as scientific as the angle to true wind direction, but I have sailed around small bays with a Ranger Minto and a Fatty Knees 8 on the water and can say that they seemed to point similarly and the Fatty Knees went fairly quickly. The rig seems well designed and its sailing ability belies the considerable beam and carrying capacity.
So, while not “high performance,” the Fatty Knees certainly goes to weather decently and is a blast to sail.
