Preview: TALLY HO – Episode 10: Deck Hatches & Rollerskates (& Why I Have This Amazing Workshop)

Want some inspiration mixed with humor from a charismatic young guy who knows how to get things done?

Try watching Leo Goolden as he brings back the 47’ teak-planked TALLY HO to the glorious gaff cutter she was when launched over a hundred years ago in England. This vessel, designed by Albert Strange, lies under a shed in Sequim, WA, that Lo built next to the shop/apartment he rejuvenated—helped out occasionally by Poncho the parrot and Brian the dog.

I’m enjoying following this huge project and watching you, your friends, and helpers proceed with your work restoring Tally Ho and capturing it on video. This puts me in mind of Lin and Larry Pardey and their boat building and sailing adventures and reading about them in their many books, especially Lin’s wonderful book, “Bull Canyon”. You should have great stories to tell and many eager readers should you ever commit them to print. We hope you do. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.

You have a good attitude for a project like this one. I know that you have moments of discouragement but it looks like you are able to focus on the task at hand. Leave those blinders on!!!

I have enjoyed imensely the first 10 videos. Leo’s competency seems to include engineering, sailing, boatbuilding and photography. All done with a great attitude and sence of humor.

Tim, could you tell us a bit about your background and how you became proficient in so many things?
