I very much enjoy the time I spend with Off Center Harbor. I do have one plea to make. Whenever children are involved with drilling ,grinding or other tools involving rotary or oscillating motion, they should wear eye protection. Please note how close the face of the child is to the work in this video.Eye injuries are common, tragic, and mostly preventable. Thanks for the great videos. Gerald Lawrie MD

      Gerald,
Thank you for your comment. My grandchildren all have their own eye and ear protection. Their appearance on this video was a spur of the moment thought and was rushed. I should have reminded them to wear eye protection.

Thanks for this reminder Gerald. I’ll take the blame on this one — we made a last-minute request of the Bryans to record the kids working with the tool. They were no doubt focused on the unusual task of filming per our instruction in haste and forgot the safety glasses which the kids all have and wear.

The belt is a braided nylon cord rubbed thoroughly with beeswax. It is cut slightly short, the ends sealed with heat, then sewn with sail twine. The stretch required to fit on the machine maintains its tension.

Harry, your grandchildren are extremely fortunate to have you in their lives. Your teachings by example of self-reliance, ingenuity, repurposing, and so many others are the best preparations for life in these precarious times. OCH, once again, thank you for sharing Harry’s approach to life.

    Harry,
Thanks for sharing your wonderful adaptation. You have inspired me to begin my search for a wonderful flywheel of my own. I will share with you if I am able to construct a tool with as much class as the one you present. Thank you for sharing.

Talk about a multi tool! I’m sure I can speak for any other jewellers out there in saying we’d all love one of these beautiful machines.🤩👌👍
