Preview: 3000 Years Under the Sea

Featuring beautiful 16mm color film and narration from cameraman Stan Waterman, 3000 Years Under the Sea tells the story of the 1960 Cochran Expedition to the Aegean Sea. Led by yachtsman Drayton Cochran, owner and captain of the 70′ steel motorsailer LITTLE VIGILANT, a group of young divers searches for clay amphoras and bronze relics from millennia-old shipwrecks.

The enaging story is backed up by amazing scenes above and below the surface, all the more impressive considering they were shot 60 years ago. LITTLE VIGILANT is still around, having undergone a comprehensive refit at Belfast, Maine’s Front Street Shipyard in 2018.

So great to see this film again, brings back many great memories. Stan was an old friend of mine, he just past away last year. We were both fellows of the Explorers club and members of the Boston Sea Rovers. Little Vigilant spent many years in the town where I live, a really great boat.
