Off Center Harbor congratulates the New Zealand-built Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 25 JONQUIL and her skipper and crew for their overall first-place win in last weekend’s Classic Yacht Regatta held in Auckland. This 1914 design, gaff rig and all, has a fine record racing here in New England, so we’re very happy that after 106 years, the same design also came through for New Zealand.

By chance came upon this boat and her owner on the waterfront in Auckland. Very distinctive lines that were clearly not Kiwi when I spotted her! Lovely boat.

Nice cut to the sails with good detailing. It must be a wonderful regatta and place to sail.
