Thanks for that question, Richard. I’m ready to install the outer keel and would like to cut the hole for the daggerboard. If someone could address those two issues, please.
    Thanks

Dang Robert, you must be flying because you just received your kit. I think we missed Kit cutting the slot for the dagger board, but I believe she did it while dry-fitting the dagger board case in part 15. Once you have the dagger board case dry mounted exactly where you want it, you can mark the slot and cut it out.

As for flattening the bottom for the outer keel, I believe that was done with a hand plane and then sanding block.

The inner keel is referred to as the hog. Where did that term originate. I always thought hog or hogging in older wooden boats referred to sagging of the bow and stern.

I am currently scratch building my sailing version of “Oonagh” from the plans and videos. I just finished watching Building the Oonagh Rowing/Sailing Dinghy, Part 10. Even though, I have previously built a dozen wooden boats, there is always something new to learn. I have watched the first ten videos and in each video I have learned a little more. Questions? Did I miss the section of the video showing how Kit flattened the center of the bottom prior to attaching the keel? Also, I was interested in seeing how she cut the slot in the bottom for the daggerboard?
