Yes, I was salivating the entire video. Having sport dived in Baja for scallops it brought back great memories of dragging oneself ashore through rough surf and reefs, cracking open a few scallops and squeezing lime juice on them to marinate them and eating some before I was out of my wetsuit!

Great video, impressive man and good to hear his commitment to sustainability. Here in New Zealand there is a significant scallop fishery and they are much appreciated. We are always surprised that people do not enjoy the orange scallop roe and only eat the muscle. Seems somewhat wasteful to us. Our scallops are always sold muscle and roe connected.

Excellent presentation of an inspirational story. Do what you love and love what you do. I’ll bet David sleeps very well at night.
As a kid, my dad would come tuck me in at night and we would chat for a minute. I remember one night he asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I thought briefly and replied that I wanted to be a clam-digger! He seemed a little surprised and asked why I chose that. I said those guys had the best life! They spent all day on a boat, had their dog with them and went home with lots of clams. As they say, “out of the mouth of babes!” I grew up on Great South Bay on Long Island’s south shore and although I didn’t grow up to become a clam-digger, as a kid, I think I had a pretty good perspective on life.
