Lovely looking boats. I love any boat based on a work boat concept.

Looking forward to the series, and loved to hear that there would be “no vahnish.”

Wonderful , Wonderful, makes my heart sing for that old tradition of real boat building charm! I can feel and sense the excitement almost like being there in person. Great stuff! I look forward to following along the process. Bravo!

We, Museum of Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota, have 1905 steamboat that was restored more than 20 years ago. Needless to say, we always have repair work to do to the wooden boat. This series will definitely help us in doing the repair work. How to make patterns and hopefully to create replacement planking for the boat.

Boatbuilding is not the only skill Peter Buxton owns. He comes across as a skilled communicator and commentator; his explanation of the return to favour of wooden workboats made me smile.

Can’t wait to follow this series. I own a Jarvis Newman/Concordia 36 here in the Pacific Northwest and just love it. I can’t go anywhere near a dock without somebody giving us a compliment…which has nothing to do with me as much as it’s about that Maine Lobster Boat beautiful lines and aesthetics.

I’m really looking forward to this build. Being a life long sailor and around sail builds I’m thinking at this age a vessel of this design might fit better than the sailing vessels. I’ll keep a close tract on this and thank you to everyone at OCH for being there for all of us.

I’m looking forward to this build. Like Rich’s and Jay’s comments, I like work boats built for specific waters with a modest trade off for a place to eat, rest and sleep protected from the elements.

Fantastic. If I may, I don’t ever seem to get an answer on any boat pages I ask. What is the orange on the keel of the lobster boat being built there

      Peter Buxton says:

Hi Joshua, the paint is a Kirby formula that seals up oak better than most paints so it won’t check etc…

Since I building a Lobster Boat myself at the moment in Switzerland, Interesting to follow and compare at the same time here all the similar steps like Peter is doing. Great Job Peter and many thanks to OCH to run that series.
Eric, we should talk togehter some time about our project. Perhaps we could also create a story.
    best, Charlie

Always admired the lines of the lobster type hull, any boat built for a specific purpose and for conditions they encounter is interesting. Looking forward to the series!
