Preview: Voyage Across the Central Pacific on a Wooden Boat, by Madison Boatworks

We ran into Jonathan and Whitney of Madison Boatworks at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival, and it was great to see them after first meeting in person just before they left on JULIA.

Their videos are decidedly against the normal Youtube-Couple grain – made for enjoyment and information, not clicks or controversy.

We won’t spoil why they’re back in the US yet#8230; let’s just enjoy some beautiful blue-water sailing in a classic wooden boat, restored by her owners.

Thank you for giving me, a landlubber a look at what it really is to be on a sailboat on the sometimes, rough with swells, open sea. An adventure not suited for those not quite versed in sailing techniques and knowledge, but an adventure for anyone for sure. Best of luck to these folks in their future sailings.

I once knew a hospital accountant, from Oxnard, who vacationed in Bora Bora and never came back. What great adventurers Whitney and Jonathan are! Wow, what great swells too!

Oh God, thy sea is so great and my boat is so small. Thanks for another armchair adventure.

One of the few videos where you can really get an idea of the swell and it’s size.
    Great job!
