I never posted photos of completed build of my Oonagh. A friend and I did parallel builds. He is a much more accomplished sailor, carpenter etc than I and it was great bouncing questions or ideas off each other as we went. We did it from plans not kit and pleased with the results.
The JoJo, nickname my father-in-law had for my wife, has had two seasons in Casco and Boothbay Maine. Like others I chose to make handholds in the inner gunwale, applied a texture finish to the floor and bulkhead tops so it can be used as a fishing platform. I lowered the stern transom to better accommodate a motor, a kick up rudder to get out of the prop’s way and a second, longer (4’) daggerboard to be able to sail in a stiffer breeze comfortably before reefing the sail. I also chose to rig the main sheet a bit differently utilizing a jam cleat.
Ted – A very nice build! You should be proud! I had our Oonagh on Georgetown Island, Five Islands for a few summers; sorry we missed each other sailing around! She is now up in Brooklin, ME ready to glance Center Harbor!
