Great video, but please tell us more about that wonderful woodworking vise that’s on your bench. I’ve noticed that it’s adjustable to several different positions. What make is it and are they still manufactured?

About pencils: I have always used automatic pencils in woodworking because the thickness of the lead does not change as you use it. You can get a pretty good one at an art supply store (usually in the drafting tools area) for not too much money. Try different types of lead to see which works for you the best.
I use a 0.9mm (millimeter) pencil, but if you are doing really fine work, you might try a 0.5mm pencil.

These are essentially all the tools I use on my small boat build, and most I bought new or borrowed. One point that was important for me was budget; buying even one large power tool, while potentially saving a little time, would instantly double my budget. Tool costs are easy to forget about on a long term boat project!

And the second half of your favorite pencil is a quality pencil sharpener CLOSE to the work area. The little hand held sharpeners are passable, but a long smooth taper is necessary to create a needle sharp point which leaves no doubt the mark is fully at the juncture of the straight edge or rule and the material requiring an index. Much time can be lost trying to point a pencil by hand and the lead will always have ridges which can affect the accuracy and fineness of the mark.
