Fall is in the air in Center Harbor and the fleet is slowly making its way into winter storage at Brooklin Boat Yard. It gives us a good chance look at these beauties while they’re out of the water. Meanwhile, the shop is a-buzz with three new boats to build for next summer. Following the success of LARK, built last winter, two more of these 47′sloops are under construction. In addition, there is also a 70′ sloop project just getting underway. I thought it would be a shame not to give all of you OCH members an inside look at the mayhem at Brooklin Boat Yard as it unfolds. So, once a week, I’ll plan to run around the yard and shop with my camera and bring you along. Shown above is CIRRUS, a Fishers Island-31 designed and built by Herreshoff in 1930. She has long been considered the queen of the fleet and has graced the waters of Center Harbor longer than any other boat I know of.
