Preview: Walkabout Costa Rica and Bangor, Maine

Christmas this year was a little different at my house. For the first time ever my family and I got away from it all. We found a quiet little stretch of beach on the west coast of Costa Rica, Playa Negra, and flew out on the 17th of December for an adventure. My wife Molly was pregnant with our second child and due at the end of February. We saw it as a chace to catch up on our rest and prepare for the lifestyle change that is brought on with the addition of a baby to our home. Hammocks are popular here, and I spent every afternoon softly swaying and listening to the surf break.

Congratulations on your daughter. Too bad she was not born in Panama. Had she been born in Panama, there would be great advantages to your immediate family as she would have enjoyed dual citizenship. I live in Boquete, Panama 10 months of the year, only going back to the cold, miserable weather of the California Central Coast during the period between election day and slightly after New Years. For your next vacation come to Panama and find out what you unfortunately missed. Especially check out Boquete. I keep my boat at Carlos Marine in Boca Chica for great fishing.

Many thanks Russ. With a little luck, and your help of course, Honey Badger will out of the barn for the Temple Tiny Regatta! You will have to join us.
      Best, Eric

Congratulations, Molly and Eric! Such wonderful news and a beautiful story as well. How many years before Lola’s on her first surfboard? 3? 4?
