Off Center Harbor's Remarks

This Norse Faering is a smart sailer and a wonderful camp cruiser, all with a dash of Viking charm.

Description from Boat's Main Listing

A thousand-year-old design with state-of-the-art contemporary features. The seaworthy four-oar boats are direct decedents of the Viking vessels of old that sailed the oceans blue. Similar to the popular Caledonia Yawls yet much lighter, faster and easier to launch and retrieve.

I bought the boat for a summer of rowing with my wife on the East Coast. In the fall, the varnish was refreshed with three coats of gloss spar varnish and the white areas repainted. New varnish on the four spoon sculls.

Built in 2010 in Seattle by Erik Friberg, a builder who spent two years in Norway to learn the craft and understand the design.
