Off Center Harbor's Remarks

(Was $29,000) Her listing describes this Knud Reimers Tumlaren as “27 feet of history, class, and beauty” and we couldn’t agree more. To this we would add that her cold-molded hull suggests she will be relatively easy to maintain over many years whether stored at the dock or ashore. Nimble and sea-kindly vessels, Tumlarens show their Scandinavian heritage on every point of sail, the kind of boat that turns kids in the family into life-long sailors.

Description from Boat's Main Listing

27 feet of history, class and beauty.

Simple to sail. Easy to maintain. Designed to stand up to the rigors of the North Sea and built to glide through the hidden wonders of the Salish Sea.

Finished in 1994 of cold-molded cedar and now sporting new sails, custom bronze hardware, new standing rigging, new running rigging, new canvass and cushions and more.

Flygburen is a joy to sail and gorgeous to behold.

Classic lines

The stunning lines of this rare Knud Reimers-designed classic become even more enchanting when you realize that she has the soul of all-wood construction married to the ease of fiberglass. Both the hull and house roof are cold molded in western red cedar while the decks are marine ply. The cockpit, cabin sides and toe-rail are gleaming Honduran mahogany. She is royally adorned with custom bronze hardware and dressed in new sails that were hand-finished in Port Townsend. Her rigging and roller-furling is new, as is her electrical system, LED lighting, cushions, canvas covers, sheets and halyards. Even her gleaming stainless steel anchor is brand, spanking new. In fact, the only thing old on this boat is her soul.

Beauty and speed is a wicked combination

An asymmetrical kite with top-down furling is included.
The mast has been rebuilt with new spreaders, new sail track, new wiring, fresh varnish and those brand -spanking new sails.
She attracts perhaps too much attention. You’ll never be lonely at the dock. Or the anchorage, for that matter.
Newly refurbished and rebuilt cockpit
Custom tiller, solar panel and bronze fittings out the wazoo.
More of her snug and cozy cockpit. Perfect for one or two with plenty of room for the obligatory wine and cheese.
Check out the gorgeous, custom bronze backstay hoop. I mean, come on. As if that tumblehome wasn’t enough.
The traditional saloon is the epitome of warmth and simplicity. This is no super yacht. This is a superb yacht.

A clever little slide-out galley that disappears when you’re not making yourself a cup of tea.
Forward of the settees is a roomy forepeak, with plenty of space for extra sails, lines, a couple of pin-ball machines or whatever else you might need. (But the truth is, aboard Flygburen, you don’t need much.)
The groovy, and new, of course, electrical panel.
Yes, that’s what you think it is. Privacy is ensured with the phrase, “Honey, will you go take a walk on deck?”
Flygburen comes with a full set of covers, including the cockpit cover seen here, a full boat cover for the winter time, and all new sail covers. No matter what, she’s dressed to the nines.
Takes your breath away, doesn’t she?
I mean, look at her…
This could be you.

Simple Elegance
The simple elegance and warmth of her mahogany interior is an inviting retreat. She has an alcohol stove and comfortable berths for two in the main cabin and two more forward.
She is powered by your choice of a Torqeedo electric motor, or for longer stints, a Tohatsu Sail Pro outboard.

Your dream is waiting for you.

Flygburen may be viewed on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
