Oak and mahogany hull with sheathed plywood deck and housetop. Sitka spruce spars (varnished); stainless and Dacron rigging with all bronze spar and deck hardware. Lead ballast keel (3,000 lbs.) and 100% bronze bolt and screw fastenings. 30hp Universal M4-30 diesel, 1996 with low hours.

Sleeps four with standing headroom. Tiller steered, with a perfectly-balanced helm. New sails 2013: mainsail and 100% jib with Harken roller-furler. New mattresses and upholstery. Paint and varnish excellent. Surveys from 2008 and 2017 indicate she’s in first-class condition.

Built as MIRA by Robert E. Derecktor, Mamaroneck, NY, 1957. Sold in 1959 to Richard C. Paine and renamed PLOVER; transferred to Eliot Paine in 1972; donated to Maine Maritime Academy 2017; purchased by Maynard Bray 2018 and renamed LOON.
