1933 36ft. Robinson Seagull Tri-Cabin Commuter V12 Scripps
Isabella is a rare John Hacker Design Commuter Style Speed Boat, built by Robinson Marine Construction Company out of Benton Harbor Michigan. Isabella is constructed of African Mahagony on White Oak frames. The superstructure and transom are varnished and the topsides are painted yacht white.
She has a speed boat hull design for high speed commuting. This qualified her to be commandeered by the Navy during World War II. Armed with a machine gun, she served as a patrol boat, making runs between Mackinaw Island and Detroit. After the war, her owner purchased her back for one dollar and returned her to service as a commuter in the Detroit area.
She is powered by a single new, NOT REBUILT, Scripps V-12 gas engine. The displacement is 896 cubic inches with 316 HP. The replacement Scripps originated from Harrids Museum in Lake Tahoe and purchased from Peter Hinkel of Harsens Island, Michigan. The new engine has less than 240 hrs of running time.
There are two ways Isabella can be configured. Run with the top on or remove the top for an open boating experience. Either way, you will surely be noticed! Both are a blast!!
Since the completion of the restoration, she has entered six antique boat shows yielding eight trophies. Isabella more than wins, she is the peoples favorite every time.
Isabella has been professionaly restored to show quality and brings remarks such as, “She belongs in a museum”. That may be true, but far from what you would want to do. Isabella is ready for the next adventure, a brand new old boat. She has with intention, been kept as original as possible and with original hardware in tact.
Isabella’s 2011 survey stated, “This is an extremely unique vessel, one of three built, that has been restored over the past 27-years by a professional wood boat restorer. It is in Bristol Condition and maintained in an extraordinary manner. The vessel ia a performing Showboat!”
After 28 years with Isabella the seller has decided to pass on this piece of history to a new owner. Isabella is valued at $600,000 with a replacement value of $900,000. The major restorations have been completed and she is an incredible boat. With attention to details and the passing of time, she will be a million dollar boat.
Isabella is currently out of the water for winter storage and may be viewed with an appointment. Information is available to serious inquires only.

FYI…Robinson was the choice of Al Capone. Mr. Capone owned a 36ft and a 39ft Robinson (tax dollars at work).
