Off Center Harbor's Remarks
L. Francis Herreshoff is, without question, one of the patron saints of Off Center Harbor, so when one of his striking designs came up for sale we felt compelled to alert our membership. Her varnish is on the rough side and her accommodations below are as eccentric as the great man himself, but here she is, at a good price that is reportedly highly negotiable.

“Carrie L.” was built by Zahniser’s Yachting Center in Solomons, MD from the original hull and sail plan by L. Francis Herreshoff for Diddikai. “Carrie L.” is a lean and powerful double ender of the same family as Herreshoff’s Dulcinea and the lighter displacement Rocinante, designed to sail fast and handle well in a variety of conditions. Modifications to the original design include a lengthened cabin trunk that trades deck space for more room below, a forward hatch taken from another Herreshoff design, and a newer rigging plan using more modern fittings geared toward high performance sailing.
