Whisky Plank

I am not certain that a boat with only 6 planks merits a Whisky Plank ceremony – but I’ll take it. Winter temperatures, distractions and life in general have resulted in taking far too long in reaching this stage but I am hopeful that Thistle will see water this summer. Building so far has been rewarding, more so as the boat takes shape. I have acquired the majority of the materials I will need with happy surprises being a 12 foot knot-free   2 X 12 which made a lovely mast and a 10 foot piece of clear, tight grained Douglas Fir hiding in the pile of SPF 2X10s both at the big box lumber store. Building In Ottawa Ontario.

unfortunately little real progress during the summer months as I have ended up being away. Next summer is starting to look like the reality.
