Email this Video to a FriendThe slightest detour off the beaten path in New Zealand, will bring you face to face with the real story of this great country — immensely talented people, quietly going about their beautiful work, not seeking the limelight. Kiwis do beauty, craftsmanship and boating as well as, or better than, any other tribe in the world. We thank Lin Pardey for introducing us to Doug Marsden and Nikki Porteous on Kauwau Island.

Nice Sunday morning surprise! Carver, sculptor, sailor, miniaturist, father, preservationist, memory builder. Reminds me of another very talented man of whom I am very proud.
Thanks for another great film capture.
Best to the OCH crew and Maynard for stepping over and under. Lucky to have spent such a morning in Maine with him.

It’s wonderful to see how the sea and boats can help people come together to change our lives for the better after troubled times. A nice video about Doug, his art and his boat, becoming one big family of loving people…….and a lovely boat……Thanks for sharing.

Great coverage of the many aspects of the charm of the Southern Hemisphere. Sadly, I have missed out on NZ and have mostly sailed in Sydney. The sculptures are terrific….where to start? The elephant , mermaid and the two Gaugin like models. Great- thanks and long live Nabuki.
