It is so impressive to watch such craftsmanship performed in a calm and easy manner. Peter’s expert eye and razor sharp tools make tough work look effortless. This series so videos is one of the best.
Howard Sharp says:
It’s a wonderful confidence builder for carvel planking to see someone doing it in the real world of knotty planks, and Peter’s a great teacher. I would love to see him teach the mysteries of backing out, although we’re too late for that on this particular boat. And I’m surprised he didn’t consider a dutchman for the discarded plank.
Peter Buxton says:
A Dutchman could have worked but if you have extra lumber it may be just as quick to get out another plank.
Also you might consider that plank to be compromised and when your trying to twist a plank into place with the bad spot right where it twists the most (as you’ll see in part 3) you may end up sawing out another plank anyway!
Thanks for the comment!!
