For the first time, I was able to attend the PTWBF for the full 3 days this year. Between the seminars, the vendors and the boats, I still don’t think I managed to see it all. The boats and their owners are certainly the highlight of the show, so it’s great to learn from this wonderful feature, how Daniel and his volunteer crew put it all together each year. I got to watch the Harbormasters on Sunday bring all the boats back out through the new breakwater at Pt Hudson Marina. Watching them expertly spin Blue Peter 180 degrees in that tiny harbor was a sight I won’t soon forget!

Great feature ! Thanks!
Lucky kids. Boats are so good for kids.

I’ve shown boats at the PTWBF numerous times. And at every event I have been totally impressed with the friendliness and competence exhibited by the Harbor Master’s crew of volunteers. This level of service can only be achieved due to the leadership. And in this regard, Daniel Evans is tops. His calm demeanor is infectious. It is nerve wracking taking one’s boat into the crowded conditions of Point Hudson. But knowing that his crew of folks are there, ready and eager to help, is truly a balm.
Danial spoke a bit in the video about the youths in his crew. I have never had the pleasure of such eager attention as I did this past Festival. Those kids were all over the place. Ready to take lines and always listening to their older, more experience, crew leader. I’d recommend them as crew to anyone. I applaud each and every one!

What a great idea for a feature, OCH. Nicely done.
Every year when I sail up the bay to the festival marina and hail Daniel on the radio, he responds with a welcoming greeting that sounds like he’s genuinely glad we’re in the show again. It’s a carnival of organized chaos to funnel these 160+ boats into the marina (which has just 32 slips plus a couple of long linear docks), but I’ve never heard him lose his patience—or his enthusiasm. He’s one of the prime figures that make this wonderful festival work.
