What a joy! Thanks for highlighting this vessel again so we didn’t inadvertently miss it in the video catalog. That would have been a major loss. She’s something splendid!
Donald Goldring says:
I have watched this video several times over this past year and enjoy it every time.
My favourite OCH video
David Tew says:
Mine too.
Kerim Zamangil says:
Truly heart warming story of a dream boat built to excellence. Many happy years of sailing to the lovely trio.
Ron Grenier says:
Beautiful lines, wonderful craftsmanship!
Now the dumb question…from a flatlander.
Why the sail, at the end, on Serianna?
And , thank you!
Fred Green says:
Mr. and Mrs. Page,
Thank you ! Sincerely, you are an amazing team. I wish all three of you fair seas and warm breezes, wherever life takes you !
Kindest regards.
PS: Maynard, another amazing visit and interview. Thanks again !
Ralph Morris says:
Thanks, Maynard, for the video of Bill Page and his beautiful boat, Serianna.
When Bill is demonstrating the compass, and in later scenes, there is an interesting sailboat in the background, with a white hull and plumb bow. Must be an English cutter design?
Best regards in these trying times.
ROBERT ROESCH says:
How wonderful this was.
Listening to Bill Page and his wife talk about their beautiful boat really brought my blood pressure down.
Thanks for all you do~R
Joel Schwalb says:
This incredible labor of love is an amazing boat. Bill’s attention to detail is admirable. Congratulations on a great job to Bill and all who assisted him on this journey .
Robert Hazard says:
Is this the same Bill Page who built the charming little sailing dinghy “Nellie” that appeared in WoodenBoat Issue #1? The man obviously has very good taste in boats! I hope we get to hear from him again!
Bill Page says:
Yes
Joseph Fantasia says:
I can only concur with all of the above comments about the extensive, sensible detail of Serianna.
Had a question for Bill; the 36 year old rollers on the heavy wood sliding door at aft end of the Saloon on our Nauset 36 gave up on our recent trip to Charleston . Have not had good luck finding a replacement of adequate material. I was intrigued by the teflon bearing system along the bottom of the Pilot house door, and wondered if he could share the details of this system with me. Thanks, Joe Fantasia
Casey Haynes says:
Very Nice, wonderful attention to detail, Just a fabulous New wooden boat
Todd Waffner says:
Really beautiful- a perfect world unto itself.
Peter Brackenbury says:
A boat with so much story and soul is clearly a living thing. Born out of love for the natural materials she is crafted from, the passion and dedication that conceived and built her and continued in the joy of watching her at rest and at play in the environments that informed her design. You don’t need to love boats to love this story. It shows that passionate builders, when inspired, can invest themselves into making a piece of art for the sake of it. I am just happy to learn that Serianna exists. A hopeful message that beauty can be present in an idea, an action and a result. Sharing this story helps to cut through many of the loud ones we hear everyday. OCH is a tonic!
John Benbow says:
Thank you! great entertainment and craftsmanship.
paul callahan says:
Fantastic! What a boat! You must be so proud of all your hard work. Nothing wrong with being a perfectionist. One quick question: Is your tender perchance a Doug Hylan Crab Skiff? I recently finished building one and it looks just like yours. Thanks
Roger Mellem says:
Just one question for Bill: Where did you find the window track in the pilot house? I’m rebuilding some structure on my boat that could use window track replacement.
Thank you.
Peter Gossell says:
Great video, one of your best! Beaut boat and people. Good job Maynard.
Chris Methot says:
listed in the dictionary under “furniture grade”
Conbert Benneck says:
Bill, what a gorgeous creation. You are without a doubt, the Michelangelo of wooden boat building. May you and your wife have many, and wonderful cruises on your Masterpiece.
Your cat’s scratching post is just one of the many tiny jewels you have created in your vessel. Your life-time of experiences shows in every exquisite detail.
Do you give your guests drooling towels when they come aboard?
Baxter Evans says:
Awesome video about an awesome boat, thanks for sharing.
Ben Emory says:
Met up with “Serianna” a couple of summers ago in Mud Hole. Were invited aboard to celebrate Bill’s birthday and were truly privileged to be given a personal tour of this magnificent craft.
Doug Wilkerson says:
Special. Watched with a cup of good coffee as the snow grows deep in North Carolina. Felt transported. Happy Holidays!
Ian Anderson says:
Thanks once again, OCH for a wonderful clip. Great to see Mal Botterill’s comment right up front – there are so many parallels with his 35 year buildtime masterpiece! He has certainly “been there” and it is only a matter of time before we put together a clip for OCH on Mal and UHURU. Cheers, Mate!
Jennifer Bunting says:
Absolutely wonderful!!!
Mal Botterill says:
Glad to see there other genuine perfectionists out there who can both appreciate and use at sea a boat built to ultimate standards only achievable by consumate craftman doing the job properly utalising their years of experience and not being constrained by TIME money and profits. Well done Bill and friends I hope you have many more years of enjoyment from your dreamboat, only those who have been there can really appreciate your achievements.
Doug Duffield says:
Wow what a great boat and Video! Would love more of these types of boat videos very well done. Thank you

Thanks for an amazing display of fine woodworking. I was impressed with the use of all those cedar knees from B.C. What a treasure find.

Could watch this everyday for a year and frankly probably will. What an inspiration to see a dream become reality through hard work and persistence.

Remarkable craftsmanship and a wonderful reminder that we’re not age bound from our dreams. Thank you.

The steadying sail rig is notable feature and I’m curious about how much more it helps or assists.
George Lansing says:
The camera skill is just as beautiful as the boat. Thanks.
Norman Palmer says:
The workmanship is truly fantastic. Makes me envious, even though I am an old rag man. I have always loved a wooden craft.Coming from the East Coast, and desert bound here in Arizona I can still smell the salt water.
John Wujack says:
Absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for sharing.
Mary Barnes & Peter Neill says:
FABULOUS BILL! INSPIRING.

Two old men talking about a good boat. Shows how the subject shines when good questions introduce good answers. Wonderful.

Thank you, that was the best 28 minutes I have spent in a very long time. This guy is wonderful and so are the fellows at OCH, great job. Exceptional craftsmanship, lots of planning and hard work, thanks again.

What a treasure. Words can only begin to describe this “treasure”.
Valerio della Porta says:
True masterpiece; happy to see that top level craftsmanship is still alive and well.
Lansing Hays says:
Watching this lovely video I kept thinking what a responsibility owning a boat like this would be. Not ever being a perfectionist nor feeling being a perfectionist is possible at sea, I would be intimidated in the extreme. But that is my problem. This boat is a beautiful example of the boat builder’s art. Thank you, OCH and Maynard for this video! (Also, being 76 myself, it is nice to see a couple of gaffers who love their skills discussing them.}
Peter Diemond says:
Great, but no download speed options on this video. I have slow broadband out here on Cape R.
Ronald Coddington says:
My Dad, a great boat guy (passed in ’87), would have loved this boat, all of its remarkable details, and the owners. Almost as much as I love ’em. Thanks for putting this out for us.
patrick marks says:
Wow! what work of art on all that wood work. Great to see Maynard doing his thing.
Lewis Keizer says:
Wow! Just Wow!
Jim Mathieson says:
What a great story !
carl prestipino says:
So nice, I just had another thought – why not start a computer “screen saver” series with this shot as the first entry?
carl prestipino says:
WOW !
Eric J Nelson says:
That is just a dream boat for sure. I recently moved west and the PNW trawlers really do it for me for sure. Thanks for another nice video.
Scot Copeland says:
Wow. The paint and varnish work stood out to my eye. The satin varnish on the interior is so tasteful, complements the yellow cedar so nicely, and I’d be curious as to the type of varnish used.
