As lust remains the first of the Seven Deadly Sins, an obsession from 1947 became enduring lust.
My biases: traditional, small, wood, and beauty, paired with performance. I have a deepening reverence for evolution due to Henry Scheel’s Patrician, Joel White’s Haven 12-1/2, Wild Horses and her ssters, and Iain Oughtread’s harmonious adaptations. Conviction that the primary value of watercraft is as incubators for the youth of all ages. A root conviction is workboat finish.

Lance,
I often wonder whether you still have the Bahama dinghy you kept at Rock Bottom on the Kennebec. On one occasion my truck broke down you loaned her to me so I could sail home across the river. I was hooked after that and would plead with you to let me use her. It was often the only boat out on the river and it was such a wonderful little boat to sail at the end of a day. The only other one I’ve seen (other than at Man O’ War Cay) was in Nantucket harbor. The owner came alongside and let some of my crew try her out. I believe they were tempted to jump ship and take off with her!
