Thank you for putting a mile wide grin on a face sorely needing one. Your love of such things comes through so well that I can vicariously be there to smell the sea and feel the movement of fine vessels of art and purpose.
Thank you again, I needed this more than you could ever know and I along with many others look forward to your videos.

“Good boats. Special people. And beautiful geography.” That’s a perfect summation. Thanks to Steve and Eric for their visit.
I sort of stumbled into the wooden boat world ten years ago with a magazine assignment to write a piece about the Port Townsend and Lake Union (Seattle) festivals. That led, in succession, to building a Pygmy kayak from a kit, a cedar-strip kayak, sailing lessons at the Center for Wooden Boats, U.S. Sailing bareboat certification, building a melonseed sailing dinghy, and finally a 19′ gaff-rigged pocket cruiser. The gaffer, Nil Desperandum, has been in the Port Townsend festival for the past two years.
It’s been a wild, all-consuming, and decidedly expensive plunge, and my life is immeasurably richer because of it.

Larry, I read your book “Year of the Boat”. Very thought provoking. Often I felt like I was looking in a mirror.

On my way home from sea kayaking Vancouver Island BC last summer I made a slight detour to check out the wooden boats in Port Townsend. Your coverage put the frosting on the cake! From a Lake Michigan sailor, thanks for your vision.
