The Elements of Style by Strunk & White
Good writing is all about making good, concise use of the tools of language. You figure out what you need to say, and then, through education, attentiveness, and dedicated practice, you work out the best way to say it. I can’t think of a better mindset/metaphor for boatbuilders, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Bud MacIntosh was an Enlish major, or that Joel White was E.B. White’s son.
