Preview: The Straight Truth About OCH (from our Members)

“This is great stuff. You have rolled the experience of ten or twenty lifetimes into one source. Keep it up.”

This week, I asked OCH members to tell us what they’d say to someone who is considering joining OffCenterHarbor.com.

I asked three critical questions, and over 600 members responded quickly with their answers to that question. These responses tell the truth about OffCenterHarbor.com, far better than we can, so I’ve shared the two charts and ALL their responses below, exactly as we received them from our members, unedited and unfiltered.

If you’ve considered joining OCH as a member, but you haven’t joined yet, I hope this straight-forward honest approach will help you decide to join OCH as a member and get full access for a year.

QUESTION #1: How satisfied are you with your membership to OCH?

QUESTION #2: How would you describe the value of your membership?

Your videos, especially those on the stitch and glue kayak and the Caledonia Yawl have spurred me on in the construction of my Whisp. It was very good to visit briefly with your folks at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival. I wear my Off-Center cap proudly !

OCH was wonderful when it started and is only getting better. Every time I visit it conjures up the vision I would see from the harbormasters office in Rockport and I think I can smell the ocean while I am sitting in my favorite chair high and dry awaiting the arrival of winter.

I think the high ratings reflect your ability to keep us sailing all year.

My favorite response to the survey was this quote
“They may not look it, but these people are pros.”
    Really funny
Thanks for all of your wonderful comments.

Mine too. Stealth, that “pro-ness”, very stealth.

I’m a little late in posting on this subject, but I think I joined OCH just a few months after it began, and it’s been the first place I go on my computer just about every morning since. The quality and breadth of the material here has influenced me significantly. Bill Thomas inspired me to build a stitch and glue kayak. I live on the Great Plains, but other videos inspired me to visit Maine last fall, including Brooklin Boatyard and Rockport Marine. My appreciation of the beauty of sailing and good boats is constantly nourished at OCH. Some videos teach me wonderful new things while others inspire and move me. Many do all these things simultaneously. Best of all, our long inland winters are far more easily tolerated when I can regularly lose myself in the magic of the gifts you make available to us. Thank you, thank you.

Thanks David. Love your thoughts here. When we were sitting on the dock in Center Harbor four years ago, this is exactly the experience we were hoping to create, and the feelings we wanted to inspire.

I learned so much from Carol’s sail trimming. I’ve had four sailboats and a lot of my trimming has been backwards … and I thought it was the boat!

It would be nice if you could do a similar video on sails like the caledonia-yawl has. I think from Carol’s teaching I would have a clue, but she makes trimming so clear.

Thanks again. I really really appreciate what you’re doing.
