The 65′ dragger KATHERINE was launched June 10, 1975 as the last of the Newbert & Wallace draggers.
In this post, Part 2, of this Newbert & Wallace series, we’ll see how an Eastern-rigged dragger was put together of wood. KATHERINE is the last of her breed to be built by the firm and, luckily, the process wasphotographed by Thomaston neighbor Frank Schroeder. This round-sterned vessel is a near sister to Mystic Seaport’s ROANN, which we’ll visit in Part 3.
