Off Center Harbor's Remarks
Why have an unrowable RIB when you can have an Oonagh sailing dinghy that rows like a dream?
Description from Boat's Main Listing
Here’s what Off Center Harbor has to say about Oonagh:
“Rather than settle for an inflatable RIB that can hardly be rowed and cannot be sailed, one of today’s top small boat designers, Doug Hylan, has created OONAGH (pronounced “oo’-nah”) as a legitimate alternative to the inflatable/RIB dinghy.
Exceptionally seaworthy, this design achieves the trifecta of rowing, towing and sailing—and doing all three remarkably well. She also motors along quite nicely with a small outboard motor. And she’s steady as a church when stepping into her from the mothership. With oversized gunwale-guard wrapped around her rails, she cozies up nicely alongside without causing dings or rashes.”
I built this boat in 2021 using a kit from OCH. The planks, bow, stern and interior compartments are marine grade mahogany plywood. Secondary wood is mahogany or Douglas fir. The mast and boom are made of solid Douglas fir and the yard is spruce. All hinges and fasteners are bronze or 316 grade stainless steel. There is an extra dagger board 3 inches longer than standard to improve pointing and tracking in very light air.
I used her in 2021 as a dinghy when I sailed from Noank to Bar Harbor. I can honestly say I received at least one compliment in every harbor along the way, usually many more! She was very lightly used in 2022 because I sold my cruising sailboat.
Sale includes a cover, a set of 8 foot oars and a LoadRite trailer bought new in 2021. A Torqeedo 503 electric outboard is negotiable.
