Description from Boat's Main Listing

Sam L. Morse Falmouth 22 “Marjorie”, built in Costa Mesa in 1981; hull number 15.

I bought Marjorie in 2018, had her trucked up from Oregon, and had an extensive refit done at Cape George Marine Works in Port Townsend (they now build the FC, and BCC, since Morse yard closed). Refit included: all new covering boards (teak), boomkin, handrails, and interior paneling (mahogony); bowsprit and boom gallows were removed, checked (all good) and reinstalled; all SS chain plates were replaced; tabernackle was removed, recoated and rebedded; all port lights (bronze) were removed and re-bedded; new custom-built fiberglass fuel tank (22 gallon; installed under engine); all through-hulls were checked, and serviced; the marine head, associated two through-hulls, plumbing and holding tank were removed at my request (I use a porta-potty which fits the boat much better and is easy to hide).

All standing rigging and running rigging was replaced at Port Townsend Rigging in 2019 when the mast was re-stepped; a new Harken roller furler was installed for the jib.

A new Beta 14 engine was installed in 2019 by the Beta dealer in Port Townsend, including: new engine panel in cockpit; new prop and shaft, new dripless seal, new muffler, and new starting battery. The engine currently has 112 hours, as of May 2023, and has been regularly serviced by Shipwright’s Co-op in Port Townsend.

A 2-burner Wallas diesel stove/heater with custom cabinetry was installed in 2020, to replace the Dickenson diesel heater (felt too big for this boat) and old propane stove. Marjorie has a 40-gallon fresh-water tank under the forward bunk, with new water pump plumbed to the sink in galley; there is also a large, well-insulated ice-box.

Sails include: the original main in serviceable condition (cleaned and serviced by Hasse Sails in Port Townsend); like-new Hasse staysail on a removeable stay (previous owner did not use staysail); Hasse-converted 75% jib on roller furler; good condition hank-on 90% jib; never-used Hasse storm trisail and ‘balloon jib’ (drifter)

Anchors include a 25# CQR with 250′ of chain plus 250′ rope stored in the foreward anchor locker, and a bronze manual windless on the foredeck; there’s another chain locker aft for the stern anchor, a 15# Fortress.

Marjorie comes with her custom-built trailer, purchased new by the previous owner; I put new tires and rims (and new spare) on the trailer before having Marjorie towed up to Port Townsend in 2018.
