Follow along with Peter Slack’s ongoing series about the restoration of COASTAL QUEEN, a Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat built in 1928 and modified in the late 1950s to a cruising yacht. The series follows the process from the bottom up, as a new keel, keelson and cross planking are needed to support this massive structure.
February 13, 2023 – COASTAL QUEEN Restoration Project – Episode 16: Below The Deck
As the fore and aft planking comes to a close, the finishers work their way down with paint and varnish. The framework begins as bulkheads are built in preparation for the engine and gyro. Todd and Jeff come up with a plan down below.
