Follow along with Peter Slack’s ongoing series about the restoration of COASTAL QUEEN, a Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat built in 1928 and modified in the late 1950s to a cruising yacht. The series follows the process from the bottom up, as a new keel, keelson and cross planking are needed to support this massive structure.

Lot’s going on inside the Queen, as bulkheads are built finish work in the Wheelhouse, and on the deck railings, as the foreword hold below awaits the Gyro to get dropped in before the cabin space is built. Through all of the work there are still pockets of rot that need to be addressed.
