Follow along with Peter Slack’s ongoing series about the restoration of COASTAL QUEEN, a Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat built in 1928 and modified in the late 1950s to a cruising yacht. The series follows the process from the bottom up, as a new keel, keelson and cross planking are needed to support this massive structure.
December 24, 2023 – COASTAL QUEEN Restoration Project – Episode 25: The Mast
Preparations for the Coastal Queen mast are made at McMillen Yachts on top of the keelson, as cabins are being built. This episode takes us to three different locations as the woodworking elves from McMillan Yachts, Schell Custom Boatworks, and deRouville’s Boat Shop all work individually on the rigging, hardware, and structure to prepare it for the 2024 oyster season.
