Follow along with Peter Slack’s ongoing series about the restoration of COASTAL QUEEN, a Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat built in 1928 and modified in the late 1950s to a cruising yacht. The series follows the process from the bottom up, as a new keel, keelson and cross planking are needed to support this massive structure.
September 20, 2024 – COASTAL QUEEN Restoration Project – Episode 34: All the Queen’s Horsemen
The final push happens the day of the Commissioning party at the Sailing Museum in Newport, RI. The QUEEN uses her lifting boom to help out a neighbor, as the final touches are made, and the boat is prepped for the party. People flock from far away to meet the gifted shipwrights, carpenters, finishers and workers that have brought this beautiful boat back to life.
