COASTAL QUEEN Restoration Project – Episode 35 – McMillen to Mystic


Follow along with Peter Slack’s ongoing series about the restoration of COASTAL QUEEN, a Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat built in 1928 and modified in the late 1950s to a cruising yacht. The series follows the process from the bottom up, as a new keel, keelson and cross planking are needed to support this massive structure.

PART 1
After a long restoration COASTAL QUEEN leaves Portsmouth, Rhode Island as McMillen Yachts has hurried to prep her for The Mystic Wooden Boat Show. Part one deals with last minute changes before the QUEEN takes her journey out of Rhode Island to be judged by wooden boat experts at the 50th Annual Wooden Boat Show.

PART 2
COASTAL QUEEN travels to Mystic, Connecticut to join The Wooden Boat Show at Mystic Seaport Museum. We meet some of the boat builders and their crafts, as the QUEEN sits in judgement for the first time in her life.
