COASTAL QUEEN Restoration Project – Episode 6 – The Iron, the Chine and the Keel


Follow along with Peter Slack’s ongoing series about the restoration of COASTAL QUEEN, a Chesapeake Bay Buy Boat built in 1928 and modified in the late 1950s to a cruising yacht. The series follows the process from the bottom up, as a new keel, keelson and cross planking are needed to support this massive structure.

June 3, 2022 – COASTAL QUEEN Restoration Project – Episode 6: The Iron, the Chine and the Keel

The work continues as the chine’s are cut steamed and shaped to receive the bottom cross planking. The keel is fared on it’s way into the building and the century old iron is pulled from the frames and main structures to help keep the boat from rotting.
