    So, what did he do?
Did somebody take over or did he just close the doors.

I grew up in Oregon. This guy is a typical outsider coming in wanting to log our natural resources and destroy our wildlife and then blame a poor owl for his idiocy. Ruined the entire thing for me.

Thanks Bill. Just like watching the individual pieces of a boat come together it was amazing to see the workmanship in those boots. It seems that he is proud of his knowledge, skills and product. When that disappears we all lose.

Very good video and a commentary on changing times. I would be proud if my son our daughter would do that for a living. I’m a history teacher and I hope to someday be a bike mechanic and boat builder. Maybe a cobbler?

The Spotted Owl was not the “problem” when it came to massive deforestation in the NW. However like the Spotted Owl, traditional hand-made boot trades will also face extinction until people and society recognize, protect and promote their inherent, and incalculable (non-monetary) value.

Eye opening video but surely states the way of hand made goods. Look around the boat building community and you will see a lot of gray hair!
