Preview: My Dad’s a Boat Guy, by Craig Brooks [Chris Craft Restoration : 1948 Chris Craft Sedan Deluxe : Andante]

NOTE: This great little film by Craig Brooks was suggested for Flotsam by new OCH member Keith Bales in Michigan:

OCH Gang… I am a new member to your site and must say… I’m totally obsessed. I know you are hearing this nonstop but… REALLY REALLY GREAT WORK.

I’m fairly new to wooden boating having purchased a 1966 Chris Craft Constellation in 012. I’m getting deeper and deeper into personally caring for our floating piece of art. It is my growing desire to learn that led me to your site, and man I’m glad I found you!!!

inspiring for sure. Have been on a long build of my lugsail yawl. So many commitments seem to get in the way I have some times lost the will.

So many lessons in this video, love of family and appreciation of boats, of course. Also spoken by the narrator…patience, persistence, discipline, never faltering will, dream. I wrote them down because they are so meaningful in the context of this video especially, and no doubt in our lives. I’m also going to add to my shop wall the quote posted in the video…”For things we need to know before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” – Aristotle. Super video!

I joined OCH because it reminded me of my father. I would tinker in his workshop, he would build stuff. He would restore old British sports cars and owned a daysailor (DS I) which I now have. I wished I could have shared these videos with him. He passed at age 94 11/12’s. I paid for this membership out of his life insurance benefit. Thank You for all your hard work finding and sharing inspiring messages and life stories. Here’s to Yours being one of them as well.

I love the point where he talks about your so invested you just have to push through. That’s awesome because the end results are absolutely outstanding. Not only you enjoy your boat everyone that see’s the boat gets to enjoy it.
